She needed lifesaving medication, but the only hospital in her Oklahoma town did not have it
Mabel Garcia went to the only emergency room in Texas County, Oklahoma, which didn’t have a drug for heart attacks and strokes. She was airlifted to a larger hospital that gave her the drug she needed, but it was too late. She suffered brain damage.

Parole board member threatens director in effort to stop Julius Jones commutation hearing
The executive director of the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board requested a leave of absence last week after a board member threatened him with a grand jury investigation if he did not seek to reverse a legal opinion that death row inmates are eligible for commutation hearings.
Attorney General says Jones and other death row inmates can apply for commutation
The letter comes on the same day The Frontier reported board member Allen McCall sent multiple emails to the board’s executive director, threatening to accuse him of unspecified criminal activities if he didn’t seek an opinion from the attorney general.

Oklahoma voters approve Medicaid expansion, join majority of states
Oklahoma voters narrowly approved an expansion of Medicaid on Tuesday after years of local political opposition and the governor’s own claim that it would result in budget cuts to core services next year.
Bice, Neese in runoff to take on Horn in CD5 race
State Sen. Stephanie Bice and businesswoman Terry Neese have advanced to a runoff in the fifth congressional district Republican primary, setting up a two-month race in an attempt to topple Rep. Kendra Horn in November.
