State appeals judge’s order in “Innocent Man” case

The Attorney General's Office also requested a stay of U.S. District Judge James H. Payne's order requiring the state to either permanently release Karl Fontenot or hold a new trial for him within 120 days.

The church that wasn't

The head of a politically influential Tulsa-based group used the organization’s status as a church to obtain property tax exemptions for his family’s house to avoid thousands of dollars in property taxes. But the organization hasn't had a congregation or held religious services for more than five years.
