Oklahoma looks to implement ongoing coronavirus testing in nursing homes
So far, the state has tested more than 34,000 residents and staff members at 257 nursing homes and other long-term care facilities in the state.

Half of Oklahoma’s reported coronavirus deaths come from care facilities such as nursing homes
The disease’s toll on Oklahoma’s elderly has been staggering. Oklahomans age 65 and older make up nearly 80 percent of deaths in the state, the data show.

Facing delays, many unemployed Oklahomans opt to pay debit card company for ‘expedited’ benefits
The company’s CEO predicted that revenue from its government services division, which issues unemployment, food stamp and other government benefit cards, will partially offset the it’s losses in other sectors caused by COVID-19.

 

As unemployment climbs to record highs, many who have been waiting weeks for assistance grow frustrated with system
“I'm very frustrated because I'm beginning to feel that I am being tricked,” said one Owasso woman who has filed for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance funds. “It has been almost 2 months with no payment.”

There were 4.613 confirmed cases as of May 11. At least 274 people have died.

Deputy Secretary of Health and Mental Health Carter Kimble said although long-term care facilities had always been part of the state’s response to the pandemic, the state didn’t designate a team to focus solely on that area until mid-April.

Death penalty training protocol at heart of current execution delay
Oklahoma must turn over its execution training protocol by June 5, a federal judge ruled this week.


Tracking the spread of the virus
There were 4.424 confirmed cases as of May 8. At least 266 people have died.
