Your contributions fuel our upcoming reporting of Oklahoma's legislative session.
Lawmakers returned to the state Capitol this week to start Oklahoma's 2023 Legislative session, where they'll craft the state budget and pass new legislation. Oklahomans are anxious about education reform and funding, government spending, and a looming state question on recreational marijuana.
Critical decisions will be made that will affect millions. That's why our team of reporters is here to watchdog officials, and inform you of those decisions and how they affect you. We are dedicated to providing you nonpartisan, vital coverage on everything from notable legislation, to accountability reporting on lawmakers and state officials.
Today we're launching a membership drive, calling on readers like you to make a financial contribution to help power our journalism. If we reach our goal of getting 100 new donors by the end of February, we’ll receive a $10,000 matching grant. |

With your financial support, our team uncovered the education funding scandal from last year that continues to make headlines today.
Before the federal government announced it would be seeking the return of hundreds of thousands of misspent dollars, we were already on it.
The initial reporting took a team of reporters and editors more than a month to complete as we conducted interviews, tracked down public officials and sifted through documents, but the end result - a better informed Oklahoma - was worth it.
Our team also uncovered the Swadley’s BBQ story, and we were the first to tell Oklahomans the scope of the scandal. Like the GEER funding story above, it took months to flesh that story out. And it was your donations and your support that gave us the time to do that critical reporting.
Donations from supporters also allow us to consistently cover the kinds of stories you expect from The Frontier - shining a light on abuse and misconduct across the entire spectrum of coverage, from elections, to housing, to criminal justice issues, to education issues, or to state incentives to businesses.
I’ve worked in several newsrooms throughout my career but never a nonprofit investigative outlet like The Frontier. The difference is clear: thanks to our supporters, we have the time to dive deep into a story on the front-end, providing comprehensive coverage that not only informs Oklahomans but elevates the additional follow-up reporting done by us and others. I’m so proud to be part of a team that publishes journalism that Oklahomans can trust.
None of our work would be possible without the generosity of our donors. Believe me when I say that any dollar amount helps — it goes towards everything from notebooks to our computers to gas in our cars so we can travel to our interviews.
So I’m here to ask you to support The Frontier once again. If you’re a reader but have never donated before, we hope you’ll consider supporting us today. And if you’ve contributed before but aren’t yet a member of our donor group Friends of the Frontier, we’d love for you to join and start enjoying membership perks.
Thank you for helping us continue to shine a light on Oklahoma.
