Frontier project named a finalist for national award

Shadow Land
Frontier project on state's undeclared rape crisis is finalist for national award

For a year, The Frontier examined how rape and sexual assaults are investigated, uncovering a war-within-a-war that requires state and local institutions to fight for money, manpower and proven training methods to assist victims.

This reporting culminated in a 5-part series called "Shadow Land." On Tuesday, that project was named a Scripps Howard Award finalist in the community journalism category.

That kind of reporting is only possible thanks to the support of readers like you. Interested in making a donation? Your gift is now tax deductible.

And it needs your support.

Less than 24 hours after our story detailing prior spousal abuse accusations leveled against Preston Doerflinger, he resigned from all three of his key governmental positions.

Stories like that can take months to complete, and it's supporters like you who make that kind of journalism possible.

Consider making a tax-deductible donation to The Frontier. The hard-hitting journalism we produce can't exist without you. As a bonus, donors who pledge at least $60 will receive one of our new Frontier shirts
